We built this because the wait was unacceptable
Neurodex was founded in Salt Lake City in 2024 by Dr. Rohan Mehta — a clinician who watched patients deteriorate while waiting six weeks for a first CBT appointment and decided to ask what would happen if the wait was zero.
Dr. Rohan Mehta
Before Neurodex, Dr. Mehta spent seven years in behavioral health practice observing the same pattern across patients with mild-to-moderate depression: by the time they received a first CBT appointment, the window for early intervention had closed. Their condition had progressed. What could have been a 6-session course of treatment had become a longer, more complex clinical problem.
"After watching patients wait six weeks for a first CBT appointment — and seeing their condition worsen in that window — I started asking what would happen if the wait was zero."
The answer wasn't just a faster referral system. The access problem was structural — not enough therapists, not enough hours in the day, and a reimbursement model that made scaling human-delivered CBT impossible. The question became: could the evidence base for CBT be delivered through a system that was available immediately, adapted to each person, and had a human clinician ready when it mattered most?
Neurodex is that system. Built in Salt Lake City in 2024 — a small team with clinical depth, machine learning expertise, and no interest in building another generic wellness app. We built it for health plans and employers who care about what happens to their members and employees between the time they decide to seek help and the time they actually get it.

Make evidence-based CBT available to anyone who needs it — today
Not six weeks from now. Not when the right therapist has an opening. Today. That's the mission, stated plainly. Everything in Neurodex's product design — the 2-minute intake, the trajectory-adaptive sessions, the 24/7 human crisis backstop — exists in service of closing the gap between when someone decides they need help and when they actually get it.
What we believe about clinical AI
Why we built in Salt Lake City
Salt Lake City isn't an accident. The University of Utah health system provides proximity to one of the Mountain West's strongest clinical research environments. Utah consistently ranks among the states with the largest mental health access gaps — the problem Neurodex addresses is acute here, and visible. The Mountain West more broadly is a region where behavioral health provider shortages are severe and where digital access is often the most viable path to care for rural and semi-rural populations.
We are a small team. We do not have venture capital. We built Neurodex with the specific, focused goal of making CBT-based support available to more people, sooner, without replacing the clinical oversight that mental health care requires.
